What is Weaning? The Department of Health advise not to give any solids before 17 weeks in order to allow the gut and kidneys to develop. When to start weaning depends on each baby, although it is usually between 4 & 6 months. In order that the digestive system does not get overloaded it is advised that the diet consists of fruit and veg up to around the age of 7 months. How does BYY support the weaning process? We are unique – there is no other supplier of frozen single fruit and veg cubes!!

Why frozen? We freeze the food straight after cooking and cooling. This locks in all the goodness meaning that there is no need to add any additives, flavourings or preservatives
its 100% pure!!

Why 30ml cubes? This size fits with the plans suggested by the leading guides on contented baby feeding. It also minimises waste in the early stages, and for the later stages gives you the flexibility to mix and match to your own babies taste preferences.
Why single ingredients? Baby experts recommend that babies are weaned by introducing one flavour at a time. Multiple flavours and tastes can lead to babies becoming fussy and not enjoying their food. Babies digestive systems are different from adults so providing pure foods individually at first is creating a great start. In the later stages, it gives you the flexibility to mix and match to your own babies taste preferences.
How to cook your BYY food? Whilst our food can be cooked from frozen we recommend that it is thawed overnight in the refrigerator. Then heat it thoroughly, cool, and serve to baby immediately. If you are using a microwave, stir the food well to make sure there is an even distribution of heat and allow to cool. Always test the temperature of the food before serving it.
Consistency: Our food is produced to a similar home cooked consistency. Add water, breast milk or formula to make our purees thinner or add baby rice to make then thicker.

Tolerance: It usually take a few tries before baby starts to enjoy each flavour. Wait 2-4 days before introducing the next flavour as this will enable you to spot any allergies.
